So, have you two decided to call it quits?

A breakup?

Yes, breakups are bad.

They can, even, be devastating for some and change their life in more ways than one. But, despite a bad breakup, you must always remember that life goes on. You need to find ways to get back up and find happiness, once again.

Why do you need to slowly (but, steadily) recover from a breakup?

A breakup causes emotional pain. It also affects a person’s mental health. However, despite the pain, the only way to get out of this dark space that you are finding yourself stuck in right now is to simply try and push through.

If you stay for long in this space, you will end up spiralling down further. It is important to slowly, but steadily, pull yourself together and move on. If you have trouble moving on from a breakup, here are some tips that can help you get there sooner than later.

5 Tips to Recover from a Bad Breakup

Here are 5 simple, yet effective, tips to recover from a bad breakup –

1.Accept

The first step towards moving on from a bad breakup is to simply accept the situation. Don’t try to pacify yourself by thinking that you might get back together again. Or it is just a phase and they will come running back to you. By doing so you will only stray away from recovery. Accept things for what they are so that you can move ahead.

2. Don’t bottle it up

Talk to your loved ones, family, and friends about what you are going through. Don’t shy away from crying, screaming, or doing whatever it is that you need to do to feel better. Avoid bottling up your emotions as they will only suffocate you further.

3. Eat right

When we experience stress and emotional turbulence, it is natural to feel a change in our appetite. You might experience a loss of appetite or might, even, feel hunger pangs all the time. It is important to eat right at this time. Eat clean, good, and nutritious food.

4. Get adequate sleep

Sleep is miraculous. If you get adequate rest by sleeping for at least 6 to 7 hours a day during this time, you will recover sooner than later. It will relax you as nothing else can.

5. Don’t jump into a new relationship

The biggest mistake people make during such a time is to jump into a new relationship. No, don’t do that, it will only mess up your life further. Take this time to rebuild yourself, work on your mental health and emerge stronger. Seek a new relationship once you feel like yourself again.

When to seek professional help?

If despite trying everything you are still not any further on the path of recovery, it might be time to seek professional help. If you are finding yourself in a dark space, please, find a therapist. A professional therapist is trained (and, qualified) to talk to you about things and to help you get to a better place in life. Don’t hesitate, to reach out and seek help.
