Short-Description
Hello. I’m Charlene and I'm a registered psychotherapist (MBACP). My aim is to provide you with a non-judgmental and safe space where you can explore any issues you might be experiencing. I’ve previously worked with children, young people and adults experiencing a wide range of issues such as anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, relationship issues and health difficulties. I know it can sometimes feel daunting to reach out for support, and we can all find life overwhelming at times, whether we’re struggling with our circumstances or life events, experiencing relationship problems, or just feeling stuck and in need of someone we trust to listen and really hear our concerns and what’s happening for us. My priority is for you to feel heard and understood and to work collaboratively with you to achieve any goals you may have. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, and have completed training on a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (University of the West of England). For the past four years, I’ve been working as a Counselling Psychologist in training within charitable organisations and the NHS. I also have a Masters in Psychological Trauma and several years of experience working with those who have experienced complex trauma, including childhood abuse and domestic and sexual violence. At present, I work part-time in an NHS health psychology service alongside my private practice. As an integrative psychotherapist, I aim to work collaboratively with you to ensure therapy is specifically tailored to meet your needs. As I have training in different therapeutic approaches, this means I can draw upon a wide range of approaches to support you to reflect on relevant past experiences, gain understanding and insight, develop helpful coping strategies, and achieve any goals you might have. We can explore together the approach that might feel right for you, but I have training in the following therapeutic approaches: Humanistic/Person-centred Psychodynamic Cognitive Behavioural Therapy I believe it is important that you find a therapist you feel is right for you. I am only offering online and telephone sessions at present.
