About Glen

I aim to bring clarity, creativity and sensitivity to my work with warmth, humour and maturity, offering professional, balanced feedback. With my passionate beliefs of self-determination, self-empowerment and self-responsibility, I offer fresh insight in an affirming, supportive and jargon-free way.

Having an impartial perspective, I usually work both intuitively and with knowledge, experience, understanding of what brings you to therapy. I recognise people can't simply be reduced down to a label, diagnosis, symptoms or issues.

Viewing the online counselling as a joint exploration, in my London counselling in-person practice based in Camden, Kings Cross, I value the humanity in us all and acknowledge our own resources, qualities and strengths alongside our frailties, limitations and vulnerabilities.

Key Focus Areas

My experience includes working with men and women, old and young, who are straight, bisexual, lesbian, gay, whatever our sexuality, skin colour, people of many nationalities and cultures, those who are religious, hold spiritual beliefs, atheist and agnostic.

Please note, for relationship counselling, I DON'T SEE COUPLES. I ONLY see individuals privately (independently of their partner), who want to work through their OWN concerns, issues in their relationship.

People come to therapy with various issues.

These may include:

Seeking another perspective, making sense of our emotions, feeling stuck or a gap in our life, life at some sort of crossroads, sense of drifting in life, dilemmas, confusion, contradictions, decision making, adjusting to change or a new phase in life, post university blues, new surroundings, relationships, parenthood, retirement, feeling lost or seeking deeper sense of self, feeling out of touch in life, needing a different structure or strategy in life, making choices, difficulties managing life's uncertainties, feeling closed down, living life as if on automatic, living life in compartmentalised boxes, excessively analytical, either / or thinking, preoccupation with future scenarios, excessively goal-orientated, crises, stress, anxiety and worry, frustration, anger, living with life's uncertainties or unknowns, the pain of living a life unlived, life's disappointments, boredom, depression, general anxiety, excessive worrying about future scenarios, fear, sense of feeling out of control, denial of needs or excessively needy, intimacy, love or commitment issues, relationships or marital problems, marriage guidance, family difficulties, confidence, fulfillment, creativity, self-doubt, self-esteem and self-worth issues, excessive need for approval, shyness concerns, self-sabotage, seeking an authentic place to stand, risk-taking, wanting to be understood, trauma, abuse, guilt and shame, feeling like a fraud or "pseudo-self", inability to take off a mask, health-related problems, bereavement, grief, burnout.

Therapeutic approach

Recognising we are all unique, I don't hold a one-size-fits-all, tick-box approach, acknowledging that no single approach explains the complexities or holds the truth for everyone. In my counselling & psychotherapy practice I bring together over 30 years experience of working with people. I welcome, value and respect people's diversity, uniqueness, autonomy.

My focus is less about techniques or analysis and more about exploration, providing an external perspective, helping to shed light upon the obstacles in your life, so insights can be gained to change the areas you want to change or manage your life differently.

Session Types

Individual

My role is to get to know you and for you to develop a greater understanding of yourself in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. This may include exploration of how you feel, think and act. Working at your own pace, I offer guidance and support so fresh ways of seeing yourself, the options and making choices become available. Alongside the issues you bring, we may look at where you would like to be in your life and what prevents you getting there, so far.
