Client reflections

“Dougie was able to offer me caring and compassionate support through some personal problems and at a time that I felt in crisis. He also helped me realise that my negative thinking patterns were actually adding to my hurt. He showed me that through embracing rather that fighting uncomfortable feelings, I could move beyond them, towards a more peaceful & balanced existence.”

About Dougie

I understand how demanding careers, high expectations, and constant connectivity can lead to overwhelming stress, anxiety, and burnout. My aim is to provide a calm, confidential space where you can pause, reconnect, and regain a sense of control.

I often work with individuals who appear successful on the outside but feel stretched, anxious, or mentally exhausted beneath the surface.

Whether you're struggling with persistent worry, difficulty switching off, workplace stress, or an imbalance between your professional and personal life, I offer practical and compassionate support tailored to your needs.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and supported.

Life can feel overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel stuck or alone in what you’re going through. I am driven by a desire to sit alongside people in those moments — helping to make sense of thoughts and emotions, gently untangle challenges, and create space for growth and healing.

Key Focus Areas

I specialise in supporting individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, and the pressures of demanding careers and modern life.

I understand the impact of high expectations and constant connectivity, and how these can lead to feeling overwhelmed or stuck. Together, we will explore what you would like to change and what those changes might look like.

I will support you in developing practical coping skills so that, over time, you can move towards your goals with greater clarity and confidence.

Therapeutic approach

My approach is integrative, combining evidence-based techniques with mindfulness practices to support meaningful change. Together, we will explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical coping strategies. I aim to help you feel more focused, confident, and at ease — both in your professional and personal life — by creating a supportive and collaborative therapeutic space.
Mindfulness and meditation are central to my approach. These practices help create space between thoughts and reactions, allowing you to respond more thoughtfully rather than react automatically.

Mindfulness can support you in managing stress, preventing low mood, and reducing burnout by helping you stay present and grounded. Over time, this can lead to a greater sense of balance, control, and emotional resilience.

My work focuses on helping you build awareness, develop practical tools, and create lasting change in a way that feels manageable and sustainable.

Being a therapist allows me to contribute to something meaningful — supporting others in developing stronger, healthier minds.

I feel grateful to do this work and to walk alongside people as they navigate change and growth.

Session Types

Individual

I work with adults and young people who may appear successful on the outside but feel stretched, anxious, or mentally exhausted beneath the surface. Whether you're struggling with persistent worry thoughts, difficulty switching off, workplace stress, or a sense of imbalance between your professional and personal life, I offer practical and compassionate support tailored to your needs.

Couple

Couples often come to therapy feeling stuck, struggling with communication breakdowns, trust issues, emotional distance or unresolved hurts. My role is to facilitate a safe space where both partners can openly express their feelings and be heard. My focus is on rebuilding connection and developing communication skills, in the hope that a way forward can then be established - whatever that might look like. This approach aims to nurture conflict resolution in the relationship, whether through reconciliation of hurt feelings or amicable separation.
