Client reflections

“I have had three sessions with Dominika so far and I have found the experience to be very beneficial. Dominika and I had a very useful conversation at the start about what I wanted to find out through my therapy and how we were going to go about it. Dominika is a kind and generous listener, allowing me the space and time to work through thoughts I am having while we talk. She then has incisive and useful comments which lead me to think more and develop in my therapy journey. I'm a man in my mid fifties and talking about issues can be challenging. Dominika ensures that our sessions are a safe space. I wouldn't be doing this if it didn't feel like that. Dominika and UK Therapy have made this process very easy and hassle free. If you are reading this and want to enter into therapy I can't recommend them more highly!”

About Dominika

Life can feel overwhelming at times - whether you’re dealing with anxiety, loss, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck. As an integrative counsellor with over six years of experience, I offer a calm, supportive space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences at your own pace. I’ve worked with people from many walks of life, and I aim to build a genuine, trusting therapeutic relationship that helps you feel heard, understood, and supported.

My style as a therapist is gentle, supportive, and grounded, while also making space for thoughtful challenge and encouragement where it feels helpful. I aim to strike a balance between offering warmth and understanding, and helping you reflect more deeply on patterns, behaviours, or beliefs that may be keeping you stuck. In sessions, you can expect a calm, non-judgmental space where you’re able to speak openly and at your own pace. I work collaboratively, meaning we explore things together rather than me directing or leading the process. At times, I may gently challenge you or offer observations to support greater insight, but always in a way that feels respectful and attuned to where you are. Building a safe and trusting relationship is at the heart of my work. I do this by being consistent, transparent, and genuinely present with each client. I place a strong emphasis on listening carefully and creating an environment where you feel heard, understood, and accepted. When working online, I’m mindful that connection can feel different, so I make an intentional effort to create the same sense of safety and attunement as in face-to-face work. Whether through video, phone, or text-based sessions, I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship by being engaged, responsive, and adaptable to your needs and preferences.

My journey into counselling is rooted in both personal experience and a deep awareness of how often mental health can be overlooked or stigmatised. Growing up, I saw how difficult it could be for people to speak openly about their struggles, and how easily emotional pain could be dismissed or minimised. This stayed with me. As a teenager, I experienced complex grief and multiple losses within a short space of time. Navigating that period shaped not only my understanding of emotional pain, but also the importance of having a space where those experiences can be acknowledged, felt, and understood. It’s from this place that my passion for counselling developed — a desire to offer others what can so often be missing: a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard. At the core of my work is the belief that “you have to feel it to heal it.” I believe that meaningful change happens when we are able to gently turn towards our experiences, rather than avoid them. Therapy isn’t about fixing or rushing the process, but about creating the conditions where insight, self-awareness, and emotional processing can unfold at a pace that feels right for each individual. What I find most rewarding about this work is witnessing those moments of shift - when a client begins to understand themselves in a new way, feels less alone in their experience, or starts to approach life with greater clarity and self-compassion. Being trusted with someone’s story is something I hold with great care and respect. This combination of personal insight and professional experience continues to shape how I work: with empathy, openness, and a commitment to creating a space where people feel safe enough to explore even the most difficult parts of their lives.

Key Focus Areas

I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, trauma, grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, burnout, ADHD, and major life transitions such as divorce or loss. I also support clients experiencing low mood, stress, and a general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Alongside this, I have experience working with more complex mental health presentations, including personality-related difficulties and severe depression. My approach is always tailored to the individual, whether you’re seeking support with a specific issue or looking for a deeper understanding of yourself and your patterns. I’m particularly well-suited to working with clients navigating grief and loss, complex emotional experiences, and those who may feel that their struggles have been misunderstood or minimised in the past. I also work well with individuals who are ready to explore things at a deeper level, including patterns in relationships, identity, and emotional responses. I also have a strong interest in working with young people and adults managing ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and life transitions. I am a qualified integrative counsellor with over six years of experience working across diverse settings, including third-sector mental health services, hospice care, education, and private practice. I am currently furthering my theoretical knowledge through postgraduate study in Psychoanalytic Studies, which informs my depth-oriented and reflective approach. In addition to my clinical work, I have completed training in clinical supervision and support other therapists in reflective practice, ethical awareness, and case formulation. My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice, with a strong emphasis on building safe, ethical, and collaborative therapeutic relationships.

Therapeutic approach

I tailor my therapeutic style depending on the client’s age, needs, and the format of therapy. With adults, the work may be more exploratory and insight-focused, while with adolescents I place greater emphasis on engagement, clarity, and emotional literacy. When working online, I adapt by being especially attentive to communication and pacing, ensuring sessions feel connected and containing. I also remain flexible in how we work - whether through conversation, reflection, or more practical tools - so that therapy feels both accessible and effective, regardless of the format.

My work is grounded in an integrative approach, which means I don’t believe one single model fits everyone. Instead, I draw from different therapeutic perspectives to meet you as an individual. At the heart of this is a relational and psychodynamic lens, which focuses on understanding how your past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may be shaping how you feel and respond in the present. In simple terms, I’m interested not just in what is happening for you, but why it might feel this way. Together, we create a space where you can safely explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at a deeper level. Alongside this, my work is person-centred, meaning I prioritise creating a warm, non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and accepted. I believe that when you feel safe enough to be open, real change can begin to happen. A core belief that underpins my approach is: you have to feel it to heal it. Rather than avoiding difficult emotions, therapy offers a space to process them safely, helping you move forward with greater clarity and self-understanding. As part of my integrative approach, I draw on a range of therapeutic tools depending on what feels most helpful for you. Psychodynamic thinking helps us explore patterns, past experiences, and unconscious processes that may be influencing your current difficulties. Person-centred therapy shapes the foundation of how I relate to you — with empathy, authenticity, and without judgment. I also incorporate elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) where appropriate, particularly when working with anxiety, stress, or unhelpful thought patterns. When working with younger clients or those needing more structure, I may use more practical tools and psychoeducation to support emotional regulation and understanding. In practice, this means therapy is flexible and tailored to you. Reaching out can often be the hardest part, especially if you’re used to managing things on your own. Therapy doesn’t require you to have everything figured out — just a willingness to begin.

Session Types

Individual

I offer one-to-one counselling for adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, burnout, ADHD, and major life transitions. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw on different therapeutic models to suit your individual needs. I combine a relational, trauma-informed approach with an interest in deeper, reflective work - helping you explore both present-day challenges and the underlying patterns that may be shaping them. I work at your pace, offering a supportive space alongside gentle challenge where helpful, with the aim of building insight, emotional awareness, and meaningful change.

Adolescent

I have experience supporting young people (Ages 10–16), in a secondary school setting, working with issues such as anxiety, emotional regulation, behavioural difficulties, and low self-esteem. When working with adolescents, I adapt my approach to be more flexible, creative, and accessible — meeting them at their level of understanding and communication. I focus on building trust and safety first, recognising that this is key to effective work with young people. Sessions may be more structured or gently guided where needed, while still giving space for expression and exploration in a way that feels comfortable for them.
