June 2026

“Amy has been wonderful so far, very very easy to talk to and super lovely. She's been asking really good questions and has been very kind and supportive. I've been very emotional from the offset and she's managed that really well so really appreciate her approach and the space she provides.”

June 2026

“Really positive, Amy picked up on the things I want to focus on the most without prompting and managed to follow my story very well with many tangents. She didn't make me feel like anything I said had no relevance and I appreciate how she responded to the session. Thank you again:))”

About Amy

Sometimes life can get a little… much. Therapy can be a helpful option to explore what may be going on and help everything feel a little less muddled. I’m Amy, an accredited UKCP Adult Psychotherapist based in the North-East of England. I believe psychotherapy does not have to be a scary prospect — just a helpful tool to manage the stressors of life. My qualifications ensure you receive a high standard of care on your journey towards mental wellbeing. I understand that taking the first steps towards change can be hard, but I hope my approachability and humour can help make this experience a positive one.

I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for clients to explore whatever is troubling them. I work in a relaxed, down-to-earth way and often bring humour into sessions, as I firmly believe therapy does not need to feel intimidating. I am also comfortable offering gentle challenge and direction when it feels helpful, supporting reflection and encouraging meaningful change.

I have extensive experience working across a range of mental health settings, including the NHS, Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), and private practice. Like many therapists, I moved to working online during COVID and have never looked back. I’ve found online therapy offers greater flexibility and accessibility, without compromising the quality of the therapeutic relationship or outcomes. My open and friendly nature allows me to build strong therapeutic relationships whether sessions are in person, online, or by telephone.

Key Focus Areas

Through my career, I have worked with a wide range of presenting issues. I have a strong background in Employee Assistance Programme work, giving me extensive experience supporting clients with work-related stress and burnout. Through both NHS and private practice, I also have a strong background in working with attachment issues, life transitions, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and low mood. I am currently undertaking an initial Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Psychotherapy to further develop and strengthen my skillset.

Therapeutic approach

I am an integrative practitioner with a base modality of Transactional Analysis, alongside Gestalt, Psychodynamic, and Attachment-based approaches. This allows me to tailor therapy to each client’s individual needs.

In simple terms, Transactional Analysis helps you understand how you communicate with yourself and others, and why certain patterns or conversations keep repeating. It explores how early experiences can influence adult relationships, supporting you to recognise unhelpful patterns and develop healthier, more effective ways of relating.

Session Types

Individual

I offer individual adult psychotherapy from an integrative perspective. My base modality is Transactional Analysis, and I also draw on Gestalt, Attachment Theory, and Psychodynamic approaches to create a bespoke therapeutic experience tailored to each client’s needs. I work with both long-term and time-limited therapy, and I find an integrative approach adapts well to both. In early sessions, I focus on identifying key issues and goals, exploring what feels manageable and achievable within the available timeframe to ensure expectations are clear and realistic.
